About GEO/AEO Scanner

We built GEO/AEO Scanner because AI assistants have become a new way into businesses, and most sites have never been checked from that angle: AI crawlers blocked without anyone knowing, missing structured data, content that is hard to quote.

Our goal: every organisation should be able to check, with public and reproducible rules, whether AI can read and cite its site, and know exactly what to fix.

Discover our methodology

How the product evolved

The first version (May 2026) audited the AI visibility of a page: crawler access, structured data, llms.txt and citability.

Later versions added accessibility (WCAG 2.2 and the European Accessibility Act), real visibility measurement in five answer engines, the real-browser test, whole-site crawls and automatic monitoring.

The scanner now works where people work: WordPress plugin, REST API and an MCP connector for coding agents. Every report states the engine version that produced it.

Built on public standards and tested rules

The scanner applies public standards (RFC 9309 for robots.txt, Schema.org, llmstxt.org, WCAG 2.2) and criteria from research on generative engine optimization.

Public standards

Every check refers to a published standard or specification: you can verify our rules yourself.

Reproducible checks

Every criterion is a deterministic rule covered by automated tests: the same site always gets the same score.

Versioned engine

Criteria evolve with published crawlers and standards; every report states the engine version used.

Step 1Public standards
Step 2Deterministic rules
Step 3Automated tests
Step 4Fixed, published weights
Step 5Version in every report

How we evaluate

Every check is deterministic and reproducible: the same site gets the same score. Here is exactly what the engine measures.

01

AI crawler access

14%

robots.txt evaluated per RFC 9309 for 17 AI crawlers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Perplexity, Google, Apple, Mistral…), meta robots tag and X-Robots-Tag header.

  • Page reachable (HTTP 2xx)
  • AI answer engines allowed
  • No global block
  • Page indexable
02

Discovery signals

9%

XML sitemap (including indexes), lastmod freshness, canonical URL, internal linking and broken outbound links on a sample.

  • Valid, fresh sitemap
  • Self-referencing canonical
  • Internal linking
  • Healthy outbound links
03

Content structure

13%

Single H1, heading hierarchy, semantic HTML5, lists and tables, text volume and readability (Flesch for English, Kandel-Moles for French).

  • Exactly one H1
  • No skipped levels
  • Semantic HTML5
  • Readability
04

AI citability

10%

Self-contained passages, quantified facts, sources and authority links, definitions: what AI can quote verbatim.

  • Self-contained passages
  • Quantified facts
  • Cited sources
  • Clear definitions
05

Structured data

9%

JSON-LD (including @graph) and microdata: entity identity, content type, WebSite, breadcrumbs, Product and reviews for shops.

  • Error-free JSON-LD
  • Organization / LocalBusiness
  • Content type
  • Complete Product (shops)
06

AI guide (llms.txt)

5%

Presence and quality of llms.txt in the llmstxt.org format (a proposed standard): title, summary, sections and links to key pages. It serves AI assistants and agents that read your site; Google does not state that it uses it to rank search results.

  • llms.txt published
  • Summary
  • Sections
  • Links to key pages
07

Product data

8%

Online shops only (detected automatically): price, availability, identifiers and consistency between the page and Schema.

  • Structured price
  • Availability
  • SKU / GTIN
  • Page / Schema consistency
08

Direct answers (AEO)

9%

Marked-up FAQ, question headings followed by a short answer, comparison tables and numbered steps.

  • FAQPage
  • Question headings
  • 10-80 word answers
  • Tables and steps
09

Trust (E-E-A-T)

5%

HTTPS, identified entity, legal notice, privacy, contact and about page, authors, dates and reviews.

  • Legal notice
  • Privacy policy
  • Contact and about
  • Authors and dates
10

Performance

4%

Server response time, compression, HTML weight, caching, mobile viewport, modern image formats, blocking scripts, HSTS.

  • Response < 800 ms
  • Compression
  • Caching
  • Non-blocking scripts
11

Cross-platform consistency

4%

Meta description, Open Graph, X (Twitter) card, title consistency and linked official profiles (sameAs).

  • Meta description
  • Complete Open Graph
  • X card
  • Official profiles
12

Accessibility (WCAG / EAA)

10%

20 WCAG 2.2 A/AA rules checked on the page code (alternatives, forms, accessible names, zoom, ARIA…) and the statement required by the European Accessibility Act.

  • Images with alternatives
  • Labelled fields
  • Zoom allowed
  • Accessibility statement

For a site that is not an online shop, the Product data dimension is excluded and its weight is redistributed over the other dimensions.
